paid £3.75 for a pair of non genuine chinese ones a while back on ebay eg search for  370916269154

choice of temps, 4.3K, 6K, 8K, i went for 6K d2s for a change, whiter than OE but not blue.

haven't tried them they are just spares for trip abroad, at £3.75 i'm not worried how long they last.

It`s not how long they last, it`s if they`ll work. I remember a while ago that someone had used some cheap Chinese bulbs and it took a few times for them to fire up, i.e turning the lights on and off a few times.

No thanks, why you'd even risk it is beyond me... Buy cheap buy twice comes to mind or in your case you'll be buying multiple times. Hope you have breakdown cover makes the mind boggle what other cheap parts you've fitted to your car. Good luck either way.

my nearside OE bulb does that already, not often yet though to change it.

i got the chinese ones primarily for emergency spares eg if one of my OE fails in france i want to be able to drive the car home without being arrested.

how many times does £3.75 go into £40 i wonder

so much fud on this forum about tc and oe parts - all i've done is spend £3.75 on some bulbs i may never fit. Instead of £40

all the parts i've fitted are from well known manufacturers as i recall.  apart from the alternator reg from a small company which seems fine.  not had any problems so far.

....
That's the price you pay for buying summat like that second hand... you're entirely at the mercy of the tight fisted tw lovely person who ordered it ::)  ...

I just never even thought to check for HIDs ....  just assumed it would have them. I'll not get caught out like that again. The last of the line ie facelifted cars had them as standard.

As would most people.

Mercedes is hardly a'budget brand' so I would also have assumed it came with HIDS. :-\

Why fit summat as standard when you can sell it for another £1200 ::)

HIDS are standard on the Omega Elite but sadly not the Signum Elite. :-\

Neither is electric seats (memory or otherwise) and rear heated seats. :-\

The seats from the earlier Signum can be retro fitted, as can heated rears... The pre facelifts had significantly longer option lists... Plod HIDs are your only real lighting option as the retail cars were only available with Adaptive Forward Lighting which does the whole auto dip/seeing round corners thing and involves alot more effort...

Not required, as not a roadside repair - the manual says it must be done by dealer ;)

£3.75 might sound cheap at the moment but when you`re in the middle of nowhere with a blown bulb and you`re spare turns out to be duff then £40 doesn`t sound too bad an option.

If you`re really strapped for cash then fair enough but it could still work out to be false economy, for me though I`d spend the £40 fit the bulbs and forget as they`ll outlast the car  :y

The cheap bulbs could turn out to be fine and good luck to you that they are  :y
