Aircon problem...need help!!
« on: 18 January 2016, 19:05:27 »

Hi, im really hoping someone can help me
I have a 2001 omega 2l auto.
My aircon was blowing cold when I bought the car, then for about a week the power to the control panel would go off after about 5-10 minutes of driving and now nothing. There are no lights on the climate control panel at all.
I took it to my local garage who checked all the fuses and connections and could find nothing wrong. I then took it to kwikfit to get it regassed but they said the control panel was broken, so I ordered a new one and had that fitted but still nothing.
I have read online that there is a low pressure cut off valve on the power relay which would suggest it would need regassing but my local garage think I'm wrong?
Any help would be great
Thx

Have you checked the fuses?

Have you checked the fuses?

Seems strange that climate panel is not doing anything  . . .more likely electrical than aircon fault at this stage IMO

Also , personally I would not let that well known bunch you mentioned  anywhere near one of my cars ,

Especially the aircon :o :o :o

It  not only needs filling it needs checking/testing for leaks   & cleaning    out at the same time . Not a job for those you

mentioned  . . .only my opinion of course ;) ;)

Same sort of price to have done by an air con specialist  ;)  but as said climate control would still switch on  electrically for heat etc

HTH   :y

Any flickering when it cut out?

I wonder if a) it was properly plugged in, and b) if it has actually been replaced :-\

My local garage in norwich just finished switching out the control panel and I watched them plug everything back in and check it over but still no power at all.

Has anyone else heard about a low pressure cut off switch that could cause the power to switch off to the aircon?

I have had 2 omegas with aircon not working due to leaked out gas etc.  . . .before being fixed . . but climate panel still worked .

IMO low gas in the system would not shut down the whole climate system  :-\

OK, so if it's electrical and I've already switched out the control panel and had all the fuses and wires checked, what other electrical components are left to check?

Not too hot on electrics  . . but there are plenty on here who can help you. Someone will be along with advice sooner than later.  Logical answer would be no power to the climate panel  . . .but why,  where or what it is fed from I am unsure :-\ :-\

Check the sodding great big 30A fuse on the top left of the cabin fuse box... controls the entire climate system ;)
