F25 clearly won't fit an Omega.

Manual boxes are R25, fitted to all manual cars, except for 3.0l and 3.2l (plod only, all other 3.2s are autos) which has R28.

It has a horrible long throw, and a horrid feel.

Most will be autos, esp bigger engine and better specced ones, as these types of driver prefer autos.

If your going to trash an Omega why not just use a 2.2 petrol auto leave it in 1st till it dies... It should be a crime to intentionally kill a perfectly good V6... Far too many V6s are being bought from the UK mainland taken to Ireland. Plenty of 2.2s about even some manual ones. Nothing against people who drift their cars but it's not a pleasant sight especially if the car looks half decent to begin with till its wrapped around a lamp post with parts falling off etc..

More in life to worry about than a V6. ??? Omega "enthusiasts" should encompass all of the marque, which begs the question, "Are they enthusiastic about the actual Omega or just the size of the engine" :-X

Put it this way I preferred the Senator over the Carlton... Apparently the 3.0/3.2 Omegas in Elite trim where the Senator replacement. So seen as the Elite trim only comes with a V6 and not forgetting the Diesel. That's my way of thinking anyway (forgetting the diesel obviously) ;D :y

A V6 also comes as a 2.5 in low spec trim ::) A V6 is a V6 regardless of trim spec, and an Omega is an Omega regardless of engine size :)

Yes I know all the V6 sizes etc.. Was just..... Oh never mind.... Either way a V6 is a better engine for an Omega for the weight/size. What I was trying to say in my original post was if you have to use an Omega to drift and wreck use a 2.2 they are still readily available. Save the V6s for Omega "enthusiasts" seen as any Omega owner with a 2.0/2.2 can't be an "enthusiast" surely.  ::) :P

I hate to see any Omega with life left go to the scrapper. I accept its only a Vauxhall, which is a big thing if badge is more important than functionality, and that as a 20yr old design its electronic technology is dated.  BUT its still a decent car, quick enough, pretty good handling for a non sports car, and generally quite capable. Its also supremely comfortable and a fantastic mile cruncher.  Added to that, and its cheap to run (fuel aside), insure and buy, plus the fact I've been unable to find a viable replacement, its currently the nearest to ideal car for me.

Agreed, But seen as people are going to use them regardless. It's better out of the both evils for them to use the 4-pot engined cars. Preferably the rusty tatty ones that have failed MOTs.

Apart from the woeful slushbox, I actually quite enjoyed driving my Oxymoron...
I'd imagine that a well fettled C20Let conversion would actual make quite a tidy B road toy 8)

Must admit that when i first joined OOF there seemed a certain elitism regarding V6.s over 4 pots. As my Desmond is my only source of transport, apart from my bicycle, it,s a different perspective for my ownership than someone who has a V6 that they can lovingly cherish and cosset while being able to use their "other" wheels whilst they are doing it. Having said that, i enjoy all the banter and advice, car and general, that i have had from this collection of loonies :D that is OOF. Long may it continue :y
