« on: 17 February 2016, 11:05:07 »

I intend trying to attempt to clean the inlet manifold on my 2.2 dth. I believe one of the gasket part No is 90500940, but I read somewhere that I need another which I haven,t a part No. also this is a first attempt at this task so would appreciate any advice. or better still anybody in the York area whom may fancy a days work. will be willing to offer some wages.

hello, I have just been onto Vauxhall regards the gasket numbers for a 2.2 dti . also their search engine because I acquired the car with a private number was not able to recognise the vehicle. the vin  number though was suffice. however its against company policy to give out part numbers. but the actual cost of both gaskets are reasonable. ( and in stock ). if there is anybody willing to give me any pointers please what it entails to tackle cleaning inlet manifold. eg. what needs to be taken off & torque
settings.  :y

There's absolutely no reason not to release part numbers... ??? My local dealer tried that, so I told the chap straight that if he wasn't prepared to supply the information then I would ring someo who would/could... And duly did.

Don't let the dealer bully you... You are the customer  ;)

He wouldn't get a penny out of me with that attitude/policy... I'd just go to the dealer in the next town ::)

Mercedes won't either ... officially  ;). It's just so you don't arm yourself with a part number from them & then trawl the interweb. Better to do it the other way & find the part on the web & then ask the dealer if they'll price match ..... if it's a proper like for like comparison they generally will.  :y

That's because some Mercedes dealerships treat their customers with contempt :-X ::)

I've never had issues getting part numbers from any dealership... Even managed to get procedures printed on several occasions :o Just seems to be the luck of the draw :-\

I'm the same. It's another instance of someone making his work harder: giving you the part number will mean you go away happy with the service, and he can get on with something profitable.

The numbers aren't secret, they(and the manufacturer's internal description of the part which can be just as useful) are clearly printed on the invoice when you buy the thing.

But you've to buy it to get the number on the packet. The dealer doesn't want to give you the number for you to buy it from elsehwere and that's the same as if it was a main dealer or a local motorfactor
