Also, the later 3.0 heads do have tapped holes in which coil packs pick up into... although early 3.0 heads do not.
I fitted a 3.0 engine into a 2.6 I had a while back... went nicely too..

If you were thinking of fitting a 3.2 bottom end I would use 2.6 heads and port the inlets. I believe doing this brings the compression level up to the 3.0 levels...
This is what I have being toying with my own car. :y

Yes, the 3.2 has rather low compression, so I would be looking at what a 2.6 / 2.5 head would do to that, and what other work would be required in terms of porting and so on. The calculations are easy enough to do, so for someone experienced with tuning engines it'd be a no brainer.

On the other hand, transplanting a good 3.0 would be the simplest solution.

2.5 heads will work on a 3.2 bottom end and restore compression ratio to that of the 3.0

The heads will need porting to match the 3.2 inlet divider and ideally you would use the sodium filled valves from the 3.0/3.2 in the exhaust ports.

Valve sizes are the same
