Hello does any one know the thread size of the oil lines, the ones that sit besides the oil filter on the x30xe engine.
I'm going to replace the oil cooler for an external one.
I need something with thread on one side and a hose connection on the other end.
Like these in the picture.

Thanks in advance.
Regards William

Sorry, I don't know off top of my head, but why on earth would you replace with an external one, when the internal one holds the oil at a much more stable temp?

Why not fit a statement and external to accompany the internal or are you worried about making mayonnaise?

I can sort of see the attraction of fitting an external oil cooler. They're much cheaper to buy and you avoid a lot of hassle changing one. However I believe-although willing to be proven wrong-that the cover plate for the internal one can leak causing coolant loss with the possible consequences of such a thing happening, and as TB points out temp remains more stable with internal one in use.

I'm currently overhauling an x30xe engine, and used a blank plate to cap of the old oilcooler location.
The reason i want an external is that i dont like the "risk" of this set up in case of leaks or so.

So does an external with oil thermostat.
I'm just not a big fan of oil coolers being cooled or heated by the cars watercoolings system.
