Top Marks for Apple Customer Care
« on: 18 July 2008, 20:53:49 »

I am a windows man, but i do have a Mac, i like the best of both worlds  8-)

Anywho the hard drive failed on my Mac Mini when copying some large files, bit of luck, its still in warrenty, even though i purchased it in November 2006!

Popped down to the Apple store on Regent street on my lunch break, explained that the hard drive is dead, they said are you sure? I explained why.... Flashing ? Folder Icon, rebuild won't detect HD and so on, they agreed with me, so booked it in for repair.

Wondered back to the office, picking up some lunch on the way. Back at the office 50 mins after i dropped it off had a voicemail...

The Apple technical guys had opened it up and said, yup hard drive nackered, replacing it, be 5 working days (need to order a HD).

 :)

Very pleased with the service.

Very nearly walked out with a 24" iMac  ::)

Don't care what repuation Macs have, I like them, and after using Windows all day at work, its nice to use a Mac.

But they said 5 days in the MAX, they said it would take 2 days for them to ring me, they rang me within 50 mins  ;)

When i ran my own computer & IT business, swapping hard drives was as you say, minutes work - and if i needed to order a hard drive in all hardware (and indeed all software) items were next morning delivery (order up to 6pm previous day).

I would expect most computer repairs to be completed within 24 hours.

Edit-
Send the drive back under warranty for a refund after the customers computer sorted!

I've got to admit, i've always been a windows man, but, i recently bought a secondhand ibook...
I have go to admit, one of the best decisions i have ever made!!
The daughter has an imac, and between the both of us we've had no problems.
A lot easier to use, and a lot quicker.
I won't be going back to windows.

Macs definately have their place, mostly slightly niche.  OS X is currently the reason I won't consider one myself for my general purpose needs.

My Mini is still going, but doesn't get heavy use.  OSX is fine, Safari is a joke.  Not much else to do with them.  ::)

Actually in the Windows side right now due to needing to run a Winblows only program, but that's part of the beauty of it.  ;)

Tunnie, got mine plugged into a 24" LCD monitor.  It rocks!  Watched F1 replay on ITV.com from the sofa. :y
