emails
« on: 30 March 2016, 07:18:54 »

I always thought an email sent to me was almost instantaneous. since " windows 10" installed some I am waiting for are taking literally hours to receive. example , buy online choose " click & collect " then have to wait a couple of hours for a code. one was sent to me at 18.54 yesterday & did not appear inbox until 06.19 this morning. my computer itself is quite quick so I don't know why emails are taking  so long.

That's because it's being read first at GCHQ  :), then allowed to carry on to you.

Why blame the computer when it is much more likely to be the mail provider?

After that Sacha Nigella bloke has had a good read first, of course. But then, it's his computer, and his email, after all. You did read the Windows 10 EULA? ;)

Is it push or pull email. If the latter, what is your frequency for pulling?

How long does it take if you send yourself an email, could it be your seller is overseas based and there time zone is different.

I would not put it past Windows 10 or the lump of shite that is Edge.  ::)

Had to use that other day, I wanted to change default download folder location. Edge said no, you have to modify the registry for that  :o

Edge is precisely what most Windows users need - something they can't opps around with to make insecure.  From that point of view, its excellent, and still provides enterprises with the tools to fully customise.

And obviously the browser would have no impact on mail delivery speeds, as you well know ;)
