Still a crap ( Crapi) car despite its TV heritage and consequent price tag.
I almost bought the RS2000 (although there were probably 3 or 4 of them) from the same programme in the early 80,s. I wish I had now.  ::)

I had a few Capris and Cortinas and the Cortina although marketed as a family car was far better to drive even if it didn't get the three litre engine

Worth every penny.  ::) ::)
I had a MK3 Cortina 2000E and a MK2 RS2000 custom but I loved my old MK3 3.0S Capri.  :y I was gutted when I had to get rid of it due to having a young family.
They did a 3.0 V6 in the Cortina MK2 (Savage) but I'm not sure the MK3 Cortina would have been up to it.

Fitted an Essex into a mark four, went well if a little nose heavy ;D

Wanted to fit a 2.8 Cologne but they were too new and not as cheap / available as the Essex

But they are a bolt-in to any mk3/4/5 Cortina if you have the 2.3 subframe etc. We fitted the running gear from a rusty mk5 2.3 into a 1.3 2-door mk3 in the street 26 years ago in less than a day. Unbolted each front subframe(complete with engine and gearbox still attached), wheeled the car back off them, and bolted the new one in place. Just as we finished unbolting the 2.3 axle a passing pikey asked what we were going to do with the body, so he Hiabed it and the 1300 bits  onto his truck which meant we didn't have much to clear up.


A 24v Cosworth also bolts in the same way, which is a particularly good swap.

24V Cossie sounds like fun ;D

This was 1980 or '81 with an early Mk 4 (R reg) and the inspiration came from buying an Essex V6 cheap.

If memory serves one problem was the down pipe routing.

I remember searching at the same time for a rocket gearbox without success, seemed like fun in my early twenties ;D
