Car transport Alfreton to Billingham. ..
« on: 15 June 2016, 17:59:05 »

Any of you good chaps available for such a task? Ive accidentally bought an old Polo for MrsGK (no expense spared...) that has been VOR for a year or so, and thus is unMoTed.
Payment in beer tokens and of course cake!

(For the record, as those who have met her will testify, MrsGK is a VW nut and loves the breadvan shape. I suspect she is partially sighted. .. but that works in my favour on many levels)

Do you have a towbar on one of your cars? Last time I looked, I could rent a car trailer for about £75 a day.
Or you could rent a van based transporter for about £150, which would make the job easy.

Thank you chaps - Shiply is my last port of call. :y

Have spoken to the seller and reckon it will be drivable (needs a couple of bulbs but mostly sound), if I can borrow my mate and his trade plates it could work out well.

Expect an angry post from me, broken down alongside the A1, about 2100 Saturday :y

Remember, Trade Plates is only for Tax, not MOT.

If you get stopped by Plod, same offence as no MOT, if your booked in and driving to an MOT Tester for the Car to be tested, you have to drive on Original Plates, not Trade Plates.

And you can`t drive it 100 miles for an MOT either, it has to be somewhere reasonably local.

I looked into this when trying to get an ex plod Omega from northern Scotland to Leeds and Shiply ended up at around £110 ish, unfortunately it fell through as the seller needed it gone before I could get it collected but for that price I wouldn`t look at any other avenues.

Ah, thats not qute true - theres no stipulation in law. I'd fully expect the Ways and Means Act to kick in though, especially with a 30 year old Polo... ;)
