Leak
« on: 05 June 2016, 21:29:55 »

Well just when you think you are all finished another problem crops up,after finishing cam belt and oil cooler and lots of flushing started car for the first time today and the heating was still on HI so turned it to LO and low and behold a trickle of water came past me to my horror. It appears to be from the HBV by the feel of things, when on HI no water but on LO out it comes so looks like i'll be taking the plenum off again, still i've had plenty of practice. Question is should i start car until water runs then strip down and is it likely to be HBV or one of the pipes but which one that would leak on LO?

Why are you going to remove the plenum to change a HBV?

They work much better in the bin. Jubilee clips and the flexible driver make it much easier.

Just replaced HBV and put all back together and then water started dripping under the car,got the ramps out and checked its coming from 2 small pipes/drains and is cool.Assuming this is a drain perhaps from matrix will it stop in time? Heating not really getting warm either yet! Any suggestions?HBV is GM!

Is it coolant or just plain water, could be aircon condensate.

Then you have nothing to worry about. Unless it's rainwater, the only cause can be the A/C drain, especially if you set it to low. That means the A/C is actually working well, in which case congratulations are in order!

Topran is best avoided, at least on experience on suspension parts.

Much easier to do with hose clamp remover.

This clamps are a bit akward at firs impression. But they have their advantage -> they are designed to press with adequate force, so there is no worry about over-tighting or not tighting enough (Jubilee clips have this problem).

When the heating is on the air con silver part at the front of engine is stone cold and working is that normal? Does air con and heating work at the same time thus creating water?
