Any reason why I can't replace with a standard stud?

I also have a number of black plastic covers left over from my Omega. Five would look nice.

Locking wheelnuts are terrible. Doesn't matter what sort, which car they're on, or that you used a torque wrench on them. Bin them, and replace with a standard bolt.


Leave the covers off. Whoever has to change a wheel at the side of the road will thank you for it.

Unless you have posh wheels, fit a standard bolt.

I binned mine a few years ago when the adaptor bit broke. I ended up having to grind three sockets to get the 4 wheels off, so just normal wheel studs X5 per wheel, and the plastic things in the bin.

Could be wrong, but don't think the CDX wheels are all that pinchable. on 16 inch rims, my tyre bloke told me there's not much of a market for them at the moment. Expensive wheels is a different story.

If I keep away from the poorer parts of Barnsleywakefield my wheels should remain attached to my car.

Yep,I have a brand new set of tyres on mine,so locking wheel nuts gone back on.

I have found the only lock nuts worth having are Mcgard used them on all my vehicles since 2007 never had any problems at all, the Vauxhall ones are total rubbish.

Nobody... NOBODY.. nicks wheels anymore.  it's not 1995. 

They'll take the whole car if you're stupid enough to leave your keys lying around, or your smartphone. 

Locking wheel nuts are the work of Satan and should all be melted down.  In fact there should a locking wheel nut scrappage scheme to save carbon emmisions of the AA coming to grind the bastard things off

During the twelve years I did recovery work, we had one car that someone with stolen wheels. That was a Skoda Felicia!

I reckon that half of the wheel changes I went to ended up as recoveries, and most of those were because of damaged/missing/incorrect locking wheel nuts. I won't have them on my cars.

None of them are any good, but the one that use 3pins around the outside of the nut are particularly poor.
