Quick cam cover replacement question
« on: 27 July 2016, 08:02:40 »

Replaced cam cover gaskets yesterday. But ran out of time so plenum still on bench and car in garage.

That awkward passenger side was a sod. And had to redo it 2 or 3 times so it got messy with the silicon sealer

Any ways in the link below....

See jaimes picture 8 where the sealer goes. Just behind it is a little square cut out on the cam cap. Is this an oil passage? Cos if so I reckon I may Have got some on it and I'll have to go in and do it again after cleaning it.

Cheers guys

Yes it is, its this passage that allows any oil that is trapped behind the cam seal to drain back to the cam casing

Lucky I removed both covers. I'd covered most of the oil passages. And got some accidentally on two cam lobes.

Was less zealous with the sealant this time.  :y

Lucky I asked the question! Lol
