rear drop link drops off anti roll bar
« on: 31 August 2016, 19:21:59 »

2.2 petrol manual saloon
I swopped tyres front to back on son Ben's car today. When he was leaving he complained of a strange noise at the rear. I removed n's rear wheel and spotted that the drop link had come off the anti roll bar. This ws soemthing new to me. I put it back on again.
I have no idea what caused it, just hope it stays there. Has anyone else suffered this? Pic follows, showing upper end contacting the drive shaft, causng the noise.
Sorry, no pic. Dropbox have stopped supporting Windows Xp.

Side effect of a spring or exhaust change perhaps :-\

All I did today was swop front tyres to back. I might have dropped the jack suddenly. Will let you know if it recurs.

Same as Carlton/Senny, I believe, should you require a new replacement  :)

Don't think so. It's still there, as is the hanger. I put on that exhaust 2 years ago. But thanks for the tip.

Sorry Terry Its an optical illusion It looked as though it was in line with the hanger and not across the hanger.

back to your drop link looks like the rubber has separated from the metal sleeve which in the pic. is partially disguised by all that flaky crud.

It's still present on my screen. I loaded it from my new laptop with Windows 10, as Dropbox no longer supports Windows XP on my desktop. However I can still see the pic on my desk top.

I did wonder how it was meant to stay attached to the anti-roll bar, so that the turning motion took place within the rubber bush. I suppose if it is turning within the bush it will eventually wear loose and knock, like a front end drop link.
