Another Potterton Suprima thread

Does anyone still have any experience of these boilers?

Trying to work out whether to go for a PCB repair, an exchange PCB or a PCB replacement kit that includes an enclosed PCB (which might then not get toasted by  heat from the gas burner).

The boiler is 300 miles away so I am having to ask the step-son to provide diagnostic information.

Most likely it just needs the capacitors on the board changed. Easy enough if you are Ok with a soldering iron. Use 105C rated capacitors and they don't give any further trouble.

Soldering proficiency is not a problem
I think we have identified which revision circuit board is fitted - I just need to find a way to buy the correct capacitors without seeing the board first. ..

Lockout (flashing red), which a reset works for a period of time?

Go other it with a magnifying glass, particularly around the relays (most revisions near centre), looking for dry joints. The power parts will be obvious with darkening around it, but the low power suffer poor soldering as well.

Defo worth having a poke around, if you knacker it or fail to fix, you need a new PCB anyway :y

Thanks for that.
Currently sat in a hospital bed with my 2 year old  so can't do anything at the moment. :(

I'm not going to ask stepson to remove any covers so I can't get him to ID the capacitors but if anyone happens to know what the spec is that would be really helpful.

If you can get them the same physical size and voltage, might be worth seeing if you can get higher temp ones.

But you'll need to look, as even 10 years ago, they were on about their 15th revision of PCB
