Old threads / topics.
« on: 19 October 2016, 22:26:55 »

It can be very interesting to read back over some of them. While searching for thermostat info, I came across this one and read it through from start to finish.
It brought back many memories, some good, some bad, bit I cant deny I felt quite proud by the end. Also realised I'm nearly 5 years older now, and wouldn't dream of doing that again in the middle of winter.  ;D

Yup, those sorts of threads were commonplace a few years back, but most scrap and move on now.

Shame, as I always found those threads fascinating

Its unlikely I will do another quite like that. I'm too old, unfit and far too short of time now. I cleaned the breathers and cleaned some oil out of the plug wells today. Then came indoors and had an hours kip to recover.  ;D   I do wish there were more like it these days though. I can get quite involved in someone elses project when there is a running update like that.
There is one on the 190 forum by some European crazy man who is going to extraordinary lengths to strip a 190 to bare metal and rebuild it with some high performance BMW engine in it. He buys top quality parts, and when he cant source them he makes them from scratch.
Its fascinating and is probably the most popular thread on the forum.

I know what you're saying  :'(

Since the car accident, my back gives me even more hassle than it used to, with post strenuous work recovery time measured in days rather than hours  :(.  Probably a combination of accident, age and general fitness  :-[
