Idle control valve
« on: 24 November 2016, 20:38:33 »

Evening,

I need to replace the ICV on my 3.0 omega, l know the original part is a Bosch , but l have seen aftermarket ones on ebay and motor factors, all ranging from £29-£150.

Should l stick with original or can l go for a OE product?

Cheers

What problem are you trying to solve? ISCVs are pretty reliable on these, and thorough diagnosis is to be recommended.

Clean it with carb cleaner, and check there no vac leaks, if you still have problems, then buy 2nd hand, bound to be someone on oof, who has one.

At the moment the car is idling quite rough, so lm thinking that maybe it is the ICV?

Nope, the ICV cant respond that quick so would not cause rough idling, far more likely to be an air leak or ignition issue.

Agreed. I always start with the ignition for misfires or rough running. Listening for vacuum leaks while you do that is sensible, as that's the next system to examine.
