Planes for our new aircraft carriers
« on: 24 December 2016, 15:02:54 »

Donald tweets that he is going to look for some cheaper planes.

Arn't they the only ones that would work on our 6bn worth of new aircraft carriers. ;D ;D

You couldn't make it up.

For years, the western arms manufacturers have been raping the arse of the armed forces for years with development costs ect.
Trump is a businessman so doesn't like getting ripped off  ;)
With the republicans controlling the house and the senate, he has got a free hand to piss as many people off as he needs too.

As for our carrier planes ..........
The F 35B is going nowhere  ::)
Have a look at how many marines are on his staff  ;)

Now the A and C model numbers may be another thing  ;)

With Russian and Chinese much improved A2D systems like S300 / S400 and other export customers like Iran, his suggestion of replacing F35s with 5th generation F18 Super Hornets are literally dead in the water in hostile environments. :( :( :(

I'm no big fan of the F35 but I recognise most of the heavy lifting development is now complete with them now entering frontline service. Pilots really like the aircraft as other planes don't realise they are there before in simulated attacks they are dead, due to their very good stealth characteristics and the amount of situation awareness information given by the aircraft systems, which massively reduce pilot workload, has never been available on any previous combat aircraft, not even close. :( :( :(

I'm confident that what Donald Trump knows about the military and military systems, like everything else he is an instant expert on, he could comfortably write on the back of a fag packet with a 6" paint roller. :( :( :( His record in business is very poor including borrowing $1m from the bank of dad and turning it into a $917m loss, breaking laws left, right and centre and skimming all contractors once work is complete! ::) ::) ::) Trumps dad Fred was very similar and ended up in front of congressional committees for the alleged ripping off of US taxpayers in building veteran accommodation. :( :( :(

If he is the best the free world have got to lead us, god help all of us and I hope we all make it through to Jan 20th 2020, but I have my doubts. Worst experience I ever had was working the a not too bright narcissistic know all like Trump, who are totally incompetent, but never wrong and when everything fall apart, it is nothing to do with them, but everybody elses fault. :( :( :(

It is interesting that we currently have two US presidents Obummer and Trump, even though Trump won't be sworn in until the 20th January, totally undermining current convention that a President-Elect dost NOT do presidential things until their inauguration on January 20th. This does not auger well for him sticking to US law and the constitution during his presidency. He is already bitching over the Emolument laws he must conform with by divesting of ALL business interests by 20th January and all money raised from the sales, going into a blind trust, run by independent trustees. :( :( :(

It might be worth checking the odds with bookies, as it might be a very good profitable bet, on Trump making it through his first term without being impeached and being forced to hand the job to VP Pence who IMO is ten-times the man and one hundred times the politician that Trump will ever be! :o :o :o

I would agree with most of that. I also recognise the features of the half witted, narcissistic gobshite.
I too have worked for similar characters - for long periods of time, unfortunately, and they can make your life hell.
Mostly, they come to grief in the end, and Trump probably will too. One way or another.

The thing with the F35 and the F22 is the way it collects and uses the data  ;)

That capability will never reach the public realms (hopefully)

As for the F 18 E/F/G's, they are now what the A / C models should have been 20 years ago and there is no way on earth that you can make that airframe do what the F 35 and F 22 can do.

We can't say too much in this country though  :-X
It took us 20 years to get the Tornado F3 working as it should  ::)  Then retired it for the friggin Typhoon  ::)
