There were infact TWO rates. One rate for most cars and a ROLLING 25 year 'Historic vehicle' rate. New Labour dropped the rolling 25 year almost as soon as they were in power. Curiously the Isle Of Man retained its rolling 25 yr tax exempt.  :-/

The typical "nanny state knows what's best for you" rubbish. >:(

They deliberately ignore the fact that the extra top band introduced in 2006 was not introduced retrospectively and I didn't notice that "causing confusion". I would imagine it achieved its' objective of discouraging sales of new guzzlers without punishing those further down the food chain nor causing used car prices to collapse.

Probably wasn't much good at raising revenue though. :-X

But if they raise taxes to the hilt, surely that will only benefit the next government, not this one. I find this amazing that that labour are actually the tories get into power.
