Car entry problem
« on: 09 April 2017, 12:00:13 »

Hi all as title I can't get into the car as the battery is flat and although the key turns freely in the lock it is not unlocking. Is there any way to energise the car electrics using an external battery?

TIA
Regards Tony

Jack the car up high enough to get to the starter terminals and it is (allegedly) possible to get a crocodile clip onto the positive terminal.

Silly question, even though the door pin may not have lifted, have your tried the handle?

The key should unlock the door  :-\

Yep I have tried the handle. The key seems to travel all the way but does not unlock the car. I have never had the problem that seems quite common i.e the barrel seizing up  :-\

Make sure you really have turned the key fully clockwise against any resistance.  Then try the handles no matter what the knobs are doing or not. ;)
