Online banking - security tokens .....
« on: 13 April 2017, 14:11:25 »

You know, the little square jobbies with a keyboard & small LCD screen.

How long do the batteries last? I'm 3 years in & just realised that I've never had to replace a battery in one. Can the batteries be replaced or do they send you a whole new unit?

With my Barclays one there is a compartment that is held on by a screw.

Never opened it though, as like you it has never run out :y

As a service to all OOF members, if you send card readers to me together with cards and the PIN numbers, I'll replace the batteries for you. Free of charge  :y

I've got two Barclays pin sentries, had them years and never had to replace the batteries. But I only use the about once a year, you can set up new payees, etc., through the app without the need for a card reader.

'ere's an off topic question. Is it

donkeys years  ?

or

donkeys ears   (as long as)  ?

My Barclays one gave up on the display before the battery went, that's when I discovered the NatWest Ones, although a different machine, will work fine for Barclays and vise versa.

The SecuRSA style used by some, similar to most large company VPN access, are normally good for 7-10yrs, and battery cannot be replaced.

The type you put your card in normally do have replacable batts.
