OMEGA 2.2 - High Temp at Random
« on: 01 May 2017, 18:36:54 »

Hi everyone. :)

Here is a temperature problem  that's been bugging me for a while.

BRIEF BACKGROUND
This problem has been carried over from the previous Omega 2.2 i was driving for past 5 years. It used to have exactly same temp problem described below. I just carried engine into newer identical 2.2 body with less mileage on it. Basically its same old 2.2 engine but different body. :)  Please help.

PROBLEM
The temperature rises on the gauge to somewhere around 95 degrees Celsius. The Big Fan kicks in somewhere around that 95 on FULL SPEED and i hear it in when driving. But sometimes FAN does not kick in on time. Sometimes it kicks in when is 96, 97  And when it does the temperature wants to go higher to 100 degrees and eventually into the RED. If it kicks in late is struggles to kool engine on time and i have to be ready to stop over before any damage is done. This engine has been completely redone and it doesn't use a drop of engine oil at all, runs smooth. It has done this 2 times days apart. I don't want to high temperature to take me back square one. Only this temperature issue is a real thorn. But if i drive slow like a normal human being it does manage to keep temperature under control  albeit the needle dancing around the high ranges 95. 96. and eventually kooling it to around half marker 90 Degrees and even lower say 89.88. if it is cooled down well. Then we start again.

So basically i can drive 3 hours start and stop around town going about my usual daily running up and down and it manages to kool engine down if i just drive a bit slow as i mentioned before.

I wont mention any of my thoughts on this as i don't want to lead anyone.

What could this be?

Either of the radiator thermoswitches or a failed relay...

There's a guide for testing fan operation :y
