visibility & rain
« on: 10 August 2017, 13:54:16 »

around this time last Thursday I was westbound on the M62 when we drove into a torrential downpour. we could hardly see the front of the bonnet & on occasions & at the best it was probably only 20mtrs. give all road users their due everybody slowed right down, which was as well as sometimes it became hard to know which lane we were in. real scary.

Do you think it should be mandatory that max speed limits be reduced by 10 mph as they are in some other countries?

I have twice been caught in a sudden torrential downpour where the visibility was maybe only ten feet. Both were very very scary. Once in Spain and the other in Tunisia.

I'd rather see them raise the speed limit to 80 (per France) and reduce it to 70 in rain..

All BMW and Audi drivers have their own solution, if they drive twice as fast, they will be through it in half the time, hopefully. :o :o :o

Ideally of course[although it doesn't happen often if at all]you should drive to the conditions and not the speed limit?

When I drive in accordance with the prevailing conditions (3AM, empty motorway and good, dry roads) I get fined and points!   >:( :(
