Kwik fit strike again!
« on: 07 August 2008, 17:03:56 »

My car has a brand new MOT issued by Kwik Fit.

There is no way on earth it should have passed. Front disks very very worn, along with excessive play on OSF wheel, and other issues I have noticed.

Thank goodness I have a trusty local garage !

I'd rather have it failed, and put it right.

I'm just gonna go get the MOT cert and look up any advisories online  :-X

And surprise surprise:

Advisory Notice issued
Nearside Front tyre worn close to the legal limit (4.1.D.1)
Offside Front tyre worn close to the legal limit (4.1.D.1)
Nearside Rear tyre worn close to the legal limit (4.1.D.1)

They have advised on 3 tyres, which don't appear too bad at all. One would be forgiven for thinking they want to sell tyres  :-X

Yet the things they can't do, they don't pick up on!

Typical! What's the betting they all had about 4mm of tread on them, and Kwik Fraud don't sell front strut upper bushes?

Very surprised they let the front disks go, they're not in a good way - and they sell these!

You might find that the seller works for Kwik Fit  ::)

I had a similar experience with a chrysler I had a dalliance with a while back -- full service history and sparkling new MOT.  Probably never been serviced in it's lifetime and would never have passed an MOT anyway ----- turned out the seller was a parts manager for a large motor co .... and guess where the "work" had supposedly been done !??

Hate kwik fit >:( and i will never go there again cos they very nearly killed me a few years ago after they put new brakes on the front of an omega for me and a few days later had to do an emergancy stop and the pads fell out >:( >:(

Garage clear out in March 2011 and I will have a large amount of omega parts going very cheap.

It was my work car when i was working for my father and it was a 2.0 16valve auto omega and they told him ( i was not allowed in the garage cos my father thought i was going to kill the kwik fit man) that the boy who they got to do the work put the pads in for a 2.0 man not an auto and the auto ones are bigger and thats why they fell out but they would not of come out if i had not hit the brakes so hard and also they all had the same part number so they did not know which one was which.

Especially when you consider that the type of person who gets all their maintenance done at Kwik Fit is not going to give maintenace a second thought until something falls off or fails the MOT. >:(

Mind you my local garage is happy to stamp the service book, when he's only done a oil/filter change.......

And that also applies to vx dealers......get an oil/filter change done by Masterfit and they will also stamp the service book.....
