windscreens
« on: 06 August 2008, 15:31:47 »

i'm in another dilemma now. the cracked screen has got to go and the best priced local boys (Autoglaze) http://www.ukautoglaze.co.uk/ have quoted me £129 all in, including trims and everything.

now my insurance excess is only £50 but they insist on RAC..... :-/ :-/ :-/

autoglass say the retail is £466 but they'll give me 30% off.  ;D
all other local places are £145-£200. including rac! humm

One last Omega on the drive, one Corsa on the lawn...maybe they'll go to a good home before too long!

so i'm gonna give them a ring unless anyone reckons i'm better off avoiding a claim altogether!!

lol. well i asked the post office if i could use another glass company like autoglass or a local firm and they rang Norwich union to check.

came back with either RAC or National.

asked why and i said it was because the RAC have a bad rep on this forum! am i being harsh?!!

Not had a policy that a windscreen claim affects the no claims discount.

There were companies that repaired stone chips for free, on production of a valid insurance certificate that covers screens. We used to get an Autoglass van come round to work. Do they still do this? Got one the other day...

reading the small print of admiral it seems true that everything can't be in one basket.

for all the bonuses of cover for many cars, the limits they put on are huge! as far as i can make out loads isn't as good as previous policies with norwich union and the like  :-/

eg:

maximum 15 (read break-all for our omegas) % of market value of car for audio gear and 'standard accessories'?
£100 for belongings?!
£100 for medical costs in accidents?! £5000 tops for serious accidents?!
no courtesy car if car is stolen or cant be repaired! and if they do provide one it'll not be like for like....read a Ka...
free cover for winscreens... but no cover for any other glass...

aw boo. not coverd on the nurburgring either. lol  ;D

maybe it aint so bad but i'm too tired for reason really.  ::)
