Well after a downpour of absolutely biblical proportions I find that I've fallen victim of a blocked drain in the fan chamber resulting in the interior fan blower motor running constantly and not bein able to be switched off ,even when the ign. key is removed..
Classic symptoms of wet footwell on passenger side and three or four inches of water in the chamber.
I've cleared it ( door , horse , bolted .....
) but the damage is done.
I've blown the chamber dry using compressed air ,detached the two connectors in the footwell and dried them , the floor and carpet has also been wet vacuumed . I've removed each and every relay in turn in the compartment next to the battery but still the fan runs . My car is an early FL but the Haynes manual is for the PFL with AC not CC . I've pulled fuse 14 under the steering column which according to the VX manual is the one relevent to the CC but still the bloody thing runs .....
The relays under the column are clearly marked and none are related to the CC or blower fan.
So gentlemen , what's the diagnosis ?
Is there a blower fan relay and if so where . Is there a resister pack for the fan that is possibly the culprit or is it the CC control module ? or is there a simple ,three second repair that a six year old could do ...
I'm really pissed at this as I knew of this problem and thought I had cleared the drain when I fitted a new pollen filter . I had ,except that I replaced the filter in 2010 .
