Thanks for the link! I think I can get away with no planning or regs for what I want, my main concern is making a proper job of it. I like the panels, SWMBO may not  ;D

have it wrote into the contract that she stains and paints "wood" and replaces it when it rots  :y

I'll have that lift if noone else wants it... Not sure the neighbours will be overly chuffed though as it won't fit in the garage  :D

Nope, a lift is definitely on the list of things I want, but the odds of having a spare £1500 at the end of the process...   ::)

But....it's an investment, innit? Think of the servicing and maintenance costs you'll save in the future.

I paid a visit to that garage when it was finished. It was pretty magnificent. Havent seen or heard from Twiglet for several years now.

how about steel portal frame and steel sheet cladding.  Pretty cheap and easy to erect.

I did say about steel cladding , but the insulated type , it is not the aesthetic the OP is looking for  :-X

wriggly tin suffers badly with condensation inside ,it is worth paying the little bit extra for insulated ,double skin box profile
