Its hard to compare between eras.  And there is talent, there is (controlled) desire, and there is those few that have both.

IMHO, Hamilton has a good degree of talent and of desire. But his peers are a bit wet really - Leclerc aside.  Button, for example had loads more talent, though lacked the desire. Vettel has the desire, a bit of talent, but the desire is a bit uncontrolled.  Hamilton is a Brit, so I support him in the same way I do/did other British winners, with a hint of rose tinted specs. I quite liked Mr Nice Guy Damon Hill - talented but Schu had more desire, and the big oaf reasonably talented Mansell. But that's more because they are Brits ;D

Shithead Schu, irrespective of how much over the rules his team went, had the talent and desire in abundance - though couldn't deal with the changed cars that happened during his retirement.  Senna I think nobody would disagree with on the talent front.  I also rated Prost to an extent, but accept he's French, so you will disagree no matter what ;D.

But I lack your confidence that Hamilton is one of the greats, and not sure he ever will be in my mind. His stats are good, but for me, most of that is because his peers are mostly a bunch of Nancy boy poofs*.

*actually, there was that rumour that Hamilton might have had a "liaison" with a well known footballer a couple of years back :P

He hasn't had the best car for most of this year, or last year, and he definitely didn't have the best car when he won the championship at McLaren.

P.S. Who did Schumacher have for competition during his glory years ? Jacque Villenueve for one season until he took his career down a blind alley with the BAR debacle. Then Hakkinen for a couple of years when McLaren produced a really quick car. Hakkinen wasn't much quicker than Coulthard, though, which suggests to me that he wasn't that special.
Schumie had it relatively easy competition wise throughout his career, especially as his team mates were never ever allowed to beat him.

Never mind all that. Seems there are only two Hamilton fans on the forum.  Hey Ho.

At least we have the spectacle of Bottas 3.0 to look forward to next year with yet another new assault on the world championship only to end up the worst team mate of any team ( except perhaps Red Bull.) Bottas has his fans apparently.  ::)

Bottas 2.77 apparently for next year. At least he has a sense of humour. ;D

Eddie Jordan predicts Toto Wolff to go to Ferrari with Hamilton in 2020. That would be when Vettel finally retires as he couldn't go back to Red Bull and be thrashed by Max.

Hamilton Leclerc. Good pairing. Leclerc would learn from Hamilton and become a rounded driver to be their number one when Hamilton retires.
