I have no idea what's up with him, but this forum is pretty damned dull without him.

Few of us have Omegas any more, so the common link is disappearing. There are few common interests, so not a lot to discuss.

Most are of a fairly similar political opinion. But anyway there are many other platforms on which to give vent to politics. Politics always ends up getting nasty anyway.

Hmmmmm . . . . OK

Let's discuss . . . . . . . . . . . ?

Well I have an omega. I have politics. I have Netflix.

I was watching the first series of The Fall. And it's set in Belfast, where apparently the chief constable, is driven around in a 2.6 V6 Opel Omega, which has its bonnet badge taped over.
It's set in about 2015 I guess, so i don't think the police would still have any omega, Opel or Vauxhall by then

It was very strange. It made me think the storyline wasn't realistic either.

I believe that you will find it to be fiction  ;D

Also, you'd be surprised what some forces have stuffed at the back of the garage ;)

Yes a couple of years ago I spotted a Vectra join the M5 southbound near Bridgwater in my mirrors and there was something about the way it merged into the traffic made me think Police.  As it went by me sure enough there were two uniformed traffic cops in it.  The Avon & Somerset Constabulary plain clothed Vectra was an 03 plate.  :o  :)

About 3 years ago on my way to Lincoln I saw an O4 plate Mondeo V6 still being used for Police advanced driving tuition driver & 3 up looked in fantastic condition.

PSNI still had Omegas in service long after other forces had replaced them. Couldnt verify whether they still had any in 2015 though.
Should be able to find out, if I remember.

We had an 03 Octavia that outlasted half of the staff... I think it lasted about ten years before they remembered to sell it.

I was thinking of the £50 VW Polo that was my mates first car, bought for my Bro for his first car, then used by me for a year and sold for £200. With almost 200k on it.

I remember the MoT bloke saying that he refused to fail it on emissions because although it looked like a total piece of shit, nothing else was wrong with it ;D

I've presented some horrible looking things for MOTs, that have passed because any time I spent on them was making them work. That's done by actually fixing faults, rather than just fiddling with them, and doing the maintenance. The tester said he could always recognise if I'd had anything to do with a Capri, because the back brakes worked properly.

It's how it's still possible to run a 40 year old car as a daily. After all, that's all they were when new. learning how to operate machinery sympathetically helps too.

Don't go saying that on Jag forums, you'll be banned.

The more expensive and exotic the polish used, the more reliable the car will be.

It's not exclusive to forums: traditionally if you said to a DIYer "presumably the other side went quicker because you knew how to do it" or "why did you buy a used whatsit, when a new one is only £11?"  they look at you as if you're some sort of pervert. Then they complain that they're always having to fix the thing because it's unreliable ???
