Why.....
« on: 12 December 2020, 20:20:00 »

.... do people always have to park next to my car in Tesco's car park!  ???  ::)  >:(

I always park in spots where there are empty spaces either side, but 99% when I come back will find a car parked next to me even if there are loads of spaces.  >:(

This evening I popped to Tesco, parked hard up against the trolley shed and there were about 3 empty spaces to the right.  When I came out I found a Freelander parked so tight up to my car I had to sidle down between and sort of slide into the drivers seat.  ::)  >:(  There were still 2 empty spaces on the other side of the Freelander FFS!  >:(

Why do people do this sort of thing though?  Apart from the obvious explanation of stupidity, there must be some sort of psychological reason?  ???

Some kind of herding instinct perhaps?  ???

These people really annoy me that do that, especially if they have kids or even adults who just fling the door open without any thought of the vehicle next to them.

Indeed
but then people can't even remember to keep 2 meters away from strangers when there's a virus that kills people doing the rounds  ::)
I always try to park away from other cars and look at what i'm parking next too if i have to park next to another car.
If it's a badly diagonally parked ,dented P.O.S i look for another space  ;D

Human nature. They do it over here too.

Well, for a start, when it comes to Gaylander owners, is there any other explanation worth exploring?

It may have been a member of staff trying to park as far away from the riff-raff as possible.

Doesn't excuse their choice of transport though :D

Mrs YZ goes to Waitrose at opening time on a Sunday morning and parks in her favourite end parking space at the far end of Waitrose car park. Week after week she came out to find a new Audi S4 parked next to her, even though there were plenty of other spaces nearer to the store. She came home most weeks and said that the Audi was there again, and although it was a nice car she wondered why it parked right next to her  ........ until one week when she said a lovely old chap approached the Audi as she was packing. He explained that as my wife's car was new, and he'd noticed that she was very selective about where she parked, he always parked next to her so that at least one side of his car was safe from harm.   :)

As you said Tig. ;D Years ago i had a tin tent. Went to the Hope Valley in Derbyshire for a week, just SWMBO and me. Pitched up well away from anyone else, then went for walk up Mam Tor. Got back to a van parked right next to us, Mum, Dad and three nice but bloody boisterous kids. Luckily they went home on Sunday evening and we had the rest of the week in peace. :y
