Facelift 3 button keyfob wanted.
« on: 29 April 2026, 21:34:50 »

As above. My keyfob buttons are getting a bit old & worn and sometimes reluctant to work.
My spare one is an ebay non genuine version and not great quality.
I would like a decent condition genuine version if anyone has a spare one they want to sell.
Tia.

Before replacing the shell, replace the microswitches, else the new shell will go the same way very quickly

You might even find replacing these prevents your existing shell deteriorating further

Tried operating the switches yesterday with the circuit board removed from the shell and they worked perfectly.
Its possible Ive already had them replaced by Martin Imber at some point.
I know I had a set done by him but cant remember if it was this car or a previous one.
May have a note in the history about it, so will check.  :y

Poor response is generally not the shell, and virtually always the switches.  Try pressing the bare switches at slightly different angles etc.  Although its not worth bothering with, the switches are a few tens of pence each, and quick to change. They are surface mounted, so needs a good small iron, a steady hand, and good eyesight...

...the last 2 being my downfall ;D

I had a similar problem. Buttons were very ‘sticky’ and I had to press them like hell (arthritis permitting) to make them operate. When in bits, the switches worked fine.

So i got new shells, so they weren’t so sticky-tacky and tacked a couple of pieces of thin plastic on the button rubber so that they would press the switches down far enough to operate. Seemed to work for me anyway.

Again, you need to replace the switches else the new shell will start to go the same way :y

There's a guy on ebay, who if you send him your key minus the chip and  metal part. And cross his palm with fifteen quid, he will send you a competely refurbed key,he also does repairs. Used him about five months ago, and got the key back in three days.
