The price you pay for ‘one offs’ I guess. Something is only worth what someone’s willing to pay so it’s down to the individual I guess. Although it’s not my cup of tea, I’m not denying that he’s a gifted engineer to do what he does.
I just noted that his personal wealth exceeds $8 million.

I think the Millyard version is a tad quicker though.     

There were a lot of unorthodox mods going on back in my day that cost a lot less, although I appreciate that Millyard’s projects are more of a challenge.

You could drop a Gilera 150cc single pot barrel and piston in to a Gilera 49cc moped and you had a moped faster than your mates Gilera. 
Or, you could drop a Yamaha YB100 single pot engine in to your FS1E and have a Fizzy faster than your mates Fizzy. 
Not to mention the amount of RD400 DX’s masquerading as RD250 DX’s for those that hadn’t bothered to take their test. A quick change of side panel stickers and they were sorted.    It wasn’t as easy for plod to check number plates back then, although a Fizzy going past them at 75mph may have raised their suspicions.

My RD250B ( the one before the coffin shape tank model, and with 'torque induction' written on the side panel) had 249cc stamped on the base of the engine. It was very small though, and it was easy to fool most of the people most of the time if a 350 or 400 lump was dropped in.

My mate had a step though Puch Maxi with pedals, and I don't know what had been done to it, but it was as fast as any of the Fizzys round here.

My mate had one too, and it was also pretty quick due to not having to get through 5 gears between 0 and 30.

He did, however, get knocked off it on his way home from school by our maths teacher's wife in her Morris Ital. The shame of it all caused him to leave the scene sans exhaust which muggins here had to carry home and reattach with jubilee clips.

I had a Garelli Rekord with 6.2 BHP from 49cc. The Fizzy and AP50 had to make do with a paltry 4.8BHP.

My bike would leave them for dead.

As for the Honda SS50, it was a 4 stroke and hence glacially slow.

By todays standards(and even back in the day) both bikes I had were quite slow,although I think the first bike was probably faster than the second one. First bike was a 1968 Honda CD(that was the base model) 175cc bought for £75 at a year old. The second I bought as a restoration project for £8 and was a 1954 Ariel  VB 600cc single cylinder side valve with magneto ignition. If you didn't time releasing the valve lifter/decompression lever right when kick starting it that thing was a proper leg breaker!

I only ever had one bike, a BSA starfire 250. I shouldn't have been riding it at 16, of course, but we didn't bother with stuff like licences back then. Decided I preferred four wheels to two, so bought an Austin 1100 when I was 18/19.

SWMBO used to go to her home help jobs on a Honda PX, which she inherited from our eldest. Looked like a little trials bike but was too flimsy for anything off road. God how she wishes she was fit enough to do that now.

That was my 1st bike too SEK 845N  ..... I can still remember that reg but can never remember the reg of the cars I have now!
