New o/s/f wishbone on the Leaf. Basically the same setup as the Omega.
It fought me a bit, and what looks like a half hour job turned into an hour and a half, but its job jobbed now.

Dusty was a bit miffed I told him off, as he was being nosey, and I didn't need him covered in coolant, grime and general shite.


It's having a new rad.  But I've done enough for today.

Radiator job stalled due to a swollen o-ring.  Not 100% sure on its size, as it's clearly swollen significantly, but its CS is currently 4mm.  ID of moulding it should sit in is 28mm, so guessing it's something like a 22x3.5, but who knows.

Can I find one for sale anywhere, suitable for coolant? Can I fook.

JLR, don't sell the O-ring or the plastic mouldings separately, so will have to order the entire hose, FFS.

Pretty sure I got zapped by a camera van on the A3 this morning.

Parked half in a hedge at the beginning of the layby north of Ripley services. First time in approximately 40 years of travelling along that stretch that I have seen a camera van there.

Prodding the brakes got down to 61 mph and whilst I am confident that the original number was less than 100, I wouldn't like say of it started with an 8 or 9

In the old days, apparently 2 readings had to be taken, and it was the lower of the 2. Suspect that's not the case.


I got this from when my (now eldest) Bro was zapped at 120+, then something like 105, and it was the 105 he had to go to court with.  The copper did say at the time what the 2 readings were, to which bro replied, "you can tell when I saw you"

I certain well known F1 principal wrote him a character reference, including how he was trained on very high speed driving, which somehow worked, as he was able to drive home from court.  Very poor, and with lots of point, but he classed that a successful day!

Rad mounted, bottom hose connected once I had the angle of the rad right - this car uses those quick connect push on hoses at the bottom (and its the other lower one which has the failed o ring.

Gonna have a sit down for 30m as my back gave me that warning sign to do so, then carry on reassembling what I can until I can get a new connector.

Ooh not good. Those wretched things have ruined many a day for me in the past. One indiscretion, followed by the anger of ‘why did I do that’ when it wasn’t necessary. I have happy dreams where I imagine taking them out with a bazooka.

Drove it back from Yorkshire and noticed a slight humming noise when on the motorway. My wife suggested that it might be tyre noise on the road surface but the car is double glazed so is usually very quiet, and the humming definitely started to get worse at motorway speeds. I pulled in to the services and lifted each corner to spin the wheels, but there was no play or bearing grumble in any of them, and they all span freely. As we got nearer to home the noise had become worse, but not massively noisy. I’m almost certain it’s a wheel bearing as the noise is definitely wheel speed related, but need to do a swerve check to see if the tone changes.
