Which countries are you going to on your next trip?

Good you have a two year “ MOT” on the vehicle and not a yearly one given the low usage plus your vehicle knowledge.

Once it's running again we'll make a plan, but at current it's probably going to be Germany, then a ferry ride to Finland. It will need to come back to Germany next summer, depending on how I am feeling it might be the reverse of the original plan (Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Germany) or I have been told the Baltic states are lovely that time of year. So Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Germany. But if I am pressed for time, just do the Finland to Germany ferry again. The plan would be to take the car to the 'Ring and possibly take an easy lap.

We specifically looked for a long Tüv inspection so I would have plenty of time to drive the car. After this, I thought about finding a car in the UK and spending a few weeks driving around. I know the language at least...

I've always fancied a little road trip round the Baltics!

Good news! My friends got the car back together and it's all ready to hit the road again! Bad news is, it'll be 5 months before I am back. Unless I decide to go for an anniversary trip with the wife in early December. Will need to find a set of winters either way.





They also got the headlights fitted that I didn't get to. The old lights were okay, but the left one wouldn't auto level correctly.

This car was my introduction to the Omega. Early this year we drove it from Helsinki to Püdasjarvi, thrashed it on a snowy airport runway and then left it with a friend northeast of Helsinki to store for 2027. It's a 2.5 V6 automatic car and is quite rusty. I think it came from a friend of a friend in Berlin. One problem is, the heat gave up on the return trip. Not ideal when it's -30c. Couldn't feel my toes and constantly had to scrape the inside of the windshield.

I was very impressed in all the abuse it took over the weekend. Just about everyone that drove it stuck it in a snowbank, including myself.











They hope to have it back up there for 2027. Will be fun to compare the two cars side by side, V6 auto vs I4 manual.
