Texting on O2
« on: 09 December 2006, 17:02:05 »

I recently bought a XDA on O2 .... and should have asked here really as some of you might have known!

When sending texts on it, even ticking the box for 'yes i want a delivery report' i never got any.

Now i dont know if this just affects XDA's or any phone on O2, but after hours searching the net, I eventually found the answer...

In the message window you have to add *0# to the beginning of your text to get a delivery report.
Ive tested it and it works!  :D And the *0# gets stripped from the message so it doesnt appear on the receiving phone

Apparently O2 is the only network that handles delivery report requests differently and the reason it was ignoring the request from my XDA.

This might be useful to someone if they dont know the fix and not getting delivery reports was annoying them  :y

Just got one of these myself (new company phone). We were given the choice of the Mini S or Exec, and I have to agree the Exec is like a house brick. Mind you, could do with a University course to learn how to use it properly as it's a tad complicated!! :-? I've now got my e-mail working on it but Internet still needs setting up. Takes a bit of getting used to using the stylus for most functions but slowly getting used to it. I've got to say I hated it when I first got it but I'm starting to warm to it now, but if it's just a phone you want it's way over the top. ::)

Hi

I have been with O2 for nearly 2yrs I asked about this at the beginning of my first phone contract in my local O2 store and I was told O2 have never done the delivery reports. Have tried it on both my phones previous and current with O2 and niether can do delivery reports.

Taxi Driver I never knew of the fix so shall have to try it. Learn something new

HTH :y

I would be careful as it sends the delivery report back as a text message so you 'might' be charged for the report text.

Doesnt bother me as i get 500 free texts included in my online 200 package  :)

Ahh.......the problem is not with me setting it up (yet!) but what type of package our company is going for with O2. Once that's decided we can use it. As far as I know we can use it now but would get charged at full rate.
