I just hope, at the end of this, that people start realising that they've got to live within their means, despite what dodgy brokers tell them.

Probably for the best but I can't help thinking the powers that be in the world of finance have got off lightly.
Also the precedent is set................the banks know that whatever they do ,however badly they mess up there will always be the taxpayer to bail them out. :-/

late..and now some governments guarantee 100 % for deposits..

including Greece,iIreland and one other country in Europe..

From the readings what I understand is that most of the economists agree  the problem far surpassed the mortgage sector and it become a subject of trust...

So whatever is necessary, must be done by the govts to gain this Trust again.. And the crisis now just at that point is waiting for more..

if everybody runs to the bank we will see what the avalanche is..

As it was festival (bairam) here for the last 3 days, market was closed..Today opened and until 12 o clock loss was 7 % in 2.5 hours..

As the govt authorities made some explanation (if it was an explanation   ) in afternoon it recover a bit and total daily loss  4%..

Sorry guys, but I can't even begin to imagine these numbers... they go past me.

Personally, I am still shocked with how much my Omega depreciated in the 6 years I owned it.

However what I lost during this period will not even cover the post stamps for the Notice to Creditors sent out when one of these mega-billion banks collapse.

Going back to the Omega, the deprecation is purely due to the fact the Joe Public does not appreciate these fantastic cars for what they are, simply because they lack the street-cred of the so-called 'prestige' marks.

My two Omegas where the best cars I have ever owned, present company (my current wheels) included.

Rant over.... and back to the banking crisis.
