Repairable omega

I thought that someone may have been interested in this as a repair. But it is a sad indictment of the low price of omegas that James V6CDX said he wouldn't go more than £500.

It went for £720, add the train ticket to yorkshire to collect it, the fuel back, the cost of the repairs, you're near on a grand.

That would probably sell for around £1200 -

Really not worth it, for me - I didn't bid  :'(

but if you were buying it to use, £720 for a 52 plate Omega has to be a good buy ( work's filters mean I can't read the description & I can't remember the faults) - I spent more than that on paint this year on mine ..... I plan keeping it a while.

Ther you go Andy:

The problems with the car are minor, depending on if your mechanically minded or not.  First the brake warning light has just started flickering on and off, this only started after the car had been stood for a couple of weeks - according to the manual it an indicator that the front pads need replacing.  Having just run the car up to local car wash, the internal fan has stopped working, was working one minute not the next, so I'm guessing the fuse wants replacing.

The car has a minor oil leak, the Vauxhall dealer said this was from the cam cover gasket which wants replacing.  The other problem is the engine managment light comes on and off.  Well I would say it is the engine managment light, but according to the book it is the emission light.  Now if you are in to your Vauxhall Omegas you will now all about this problem, if not have a look at this link:

It tends to go off when its been for the run down the motorway, then comes on and off depending on the fuel that is put in, weather, where it is been driven etc. etc. etc.  Not really sure how you fix this problem, after I had read this forum and a few others I just didn't bother.  Took it Vauxhall for it re-setting and MOT'ing, they told me the Lambda unit was goosed so I paid to have it replaced along with the MOT.  When the light came back on I phoned them up, which is when they started blaming the cam cover gasket.

The final problem is with the power stearing pump, which is whining.  Again it is still working, so I left it alone - I understand they can be reconditioned.

Thanks for that.  :) All relatively minor problems. All in all, less than a grand has bought someone a reasonable 52 plate Omega.  :y
