Road Wars: Thames Valley to pull out
« on: 10 November 2008, 13:14:52 »

I see that Thames Valley Police are to pull out of the series, saying that it makes them look "too weak". Personally, I think it's the justice system that looks weak, not the frontline plod.

Far from making them look "too weak" it shows the situation for what it is.

Scumbag takes someone's car / deals drugs, etc. Drives through busy town centre at 80MPH before hitting a lamp post, is caught 9 times out of 10 (I suspect they don't show the ones that got away!) banged up and up before the beak (if the CPS get off their fat @rses)  whereby he gets a slap on the wrist and about 10 minutes community service. >:(

I think Thames Valley come off in a good light -- certainly within the constraints forced upon them.

Its the CPS that should think again, then the court system, if a case gets that far !!!

I like it when they pick someone up, with everything that happened on film -- then CPS don't proceed for lack of evidence!

Or -- guy gets caught for driving whilst disqualified ( 2nd or 3rd offence) Goes up before the beak and what do they do ??? Disqualify him again !!! Like it worked the first two times !!!!

Yep, and then they explain that the disqualifications run concurrently so he's disqualified 3 times over but only for the same amount of time that he would have been anyway. >:(

I can see why the Police often seem not to be that bothered about petty crime when it's reported to them. They know only too well that break all will happen, so they may as well spend their time catching murderers and leave motorists, etc. to claim on their insurance and have done with it. >:(

I totally disagree in that it shows them too week, having watched most of the programmes, there are some fair cops on there, the justice system in terms of what they dish out to uninsured drivers totally sucks >:(.......no wonder they go back out and do it again...........and ask yourself why the penalties are so low ::)..less than your insurance cover for the car the idiot just writ off/or crashed into ::).............I have been through this, and despite having insurance you still lose out................the bans should be longer, fines larger, and get banged up they hit a second offence :y.....However, the latter is not going to happen as our prisons are too overcrowded..............rant over ;D

I can't, Tunnie! I tried resizing it in Photobucket, but it lost the animation and clarity. Unfortunately, I lost the original gif file when my HDD crashed and can't find it on the net (although it must be there somewhere as a newbie tried using it the other week!  ;D)

If anyone sees it out there, please let me know!  :y

Don't just blame the "beaks" .. many Judges and Magistrates are extremely angry and frustrated as well; they HAVE to adhere to a book called the "Sentencing Guidelines" produced by 2 little known Quango's, and some of their "guidelines" are extremely stupid/soft/left wing

http://www.sentencing-guidelines.gov.uk/

This is a clasic example from knife crime sentencing ..

Quote
11. The severity of an injury is not to be used as a means to secure a sentence for an offence that has not been proved but the court should take account of the fact that injury was caused or intended when assessing the seriousness of an offence.

so a minor scratch will get the same sentence as a major stab ... :(

I prefer the early Omega and Senator fest that is Police Camera Action.

Also Alistair Stewart is the original and best presenter of one of these shows.

And most of the Crims are in Sierra 4x4's or Astra GTE 16v's

Proper! ;D
