Not a vx, but a merc.

I bought one brand new a few years ago...first car i ever bought brand new!....really fancied the SLK230.....but couldnt justify £35k for one......then merc bought out a SLK200......2.0 engine instead of 2.3....still supercharged tho.....for £26k.....so i decided i wanted one.....but wasnt prepared to wait the 8 month waiting list for one....phoned quite a few dealers until i found a cancelled order.....tho i had to pay for extras that had been fitted......5k's worth   .....so got it for £31k.....great car....loved it.....but had to sell it as wasnt pratical after 2 years of owning it.......managed to get £21k for it......so even a merc with a waiting list lost £10k in just 2 years  

PS this was when i was doing a different job and not taxi driving  

Try an E-series Diesel Estate next time instead - it's the lowest depriciating car on the market....

Clarksons favourite car to be a passenger in (eg mini cab/ferrying around TV celeb car) is an Omega and he lamented the passing on Top Gear

I think Clarkson made a rod for his own back with his remarks about VX's early in his career and has become famous for his 'dislike' for the Griff's products,especially Vectras.He raved about the Monaro,but emphasized it's Aussie roots.He dismissed the Vectra because of understeer and yet raved about the Alfa 147 V6,the biggest understeerer since the Morris Marina !!
Mind you,Vx should have guessed what would happen and supplied a car set up for the track
