Canoed (is there such a word?) in the sea scouts as a kid, salt & freshwater but nothing like that. Worst problem we had was swans trying to peck us to death for being on thier river. A few swift uppercuts with the paddle put them in thier place until we were made to jump in for our morning wash before brekky, the swans saw us with no paddles or canoes & came in for the kill so it became a morning ritual battle.....never did me any harm etc... but i bet todays Scout leaders are'nt allowed to do that! 8-)
