NWS Language - RAF Harrier Low flyby, Afghanistan
« on: 05 December 2008, 13:25:16 »

Flagged as NWS due to the language used by the American troops as one of our boys buzzes them in a harrier - you've got to have the sound turned up on this one to hear the tremendous WHOOSH of the plane going overhead!

For some reason this makes me incredibly proud of the RAF!

EDIT: just added another one - this one is NWS due to language, too but is hilarious - "I'm not gonna flinch!"

While harriers are fun, I still prefer this one...I like it so much I have a copy on my laptop which gets played when I need cheering up....

In fact the SHAR II and the RAF Harrier II are basically our versions of the McDonnel Douglas AV-8B.

The US bought rights to manufacture the original Harrier (AV-8A) and spent millions through the '80's updating it to the AV-8B.  They then allowed us to build their modifications into our BAe Harriers under a reciprocal licence agreement.

I think that the whole Harrier project represents how great it can be when the US/UK work together.  It is only a shame that they never bought into TSR-2, but the F-111 'aint bad! ;)

Whilst looking at the harriers I also saw this one with some low flyers.  Interesting way of using the jet wash as a sweeping brush near the end. ;D  (Not harriers)
