the first time someone stands up to them they phone the Police
You MUST be careful with these tinkers - they know how to play the system - DO NOT be cavalier, please call the police for assistance even if you don't think it's required

it was a case of red mist really id had a bad day and they were in the wrong place at the wrong time .Luckily they are well known to the Police so there side of the incident didn't make much of an impression with the Police, even so that's was the first time Ive had my collar felt by the law for anything more serious than a speeding ticket

Do you have noisy neighbours?

Luckily now myself and Mr Dusty do not have them. Our house is detached, and the closest house to us is about 200 metres........no problem with parking either.

In the past, we have had noisy neighbours. Our first house was a new house, a middle terrace. The interior walls were so thin that you could not help hearing the next door neighbours on both sides...........The interior walls consisted of 1 row of breeze block with a piece of plaster board on either side.

We could hear them, pull their curtains, answer the phone, put plugs in and out of sockets (and other things we did not wish to hear) ::)

A hundred years ago the average house was double brick thick at least, and the loudest noise you could possibly hear from next door was someone tinkling on the piano.

Today,in the average house the walls are made of cardboard, while the average house owner has surround sound tv, 500 watt stereo systems and gadgets galore. No wonder there are problems.

It is not beyond the modern builder to make a house much more soundproof, and thus ease the stresses on all concerned ;)

Your thoughts on noisy neighbours please. Are you one of them, or do you suffer because of them? :-* :-* :-* :-*

Not an issue any more....buildingr egulations now not only cover structual and insulation for walls but, also a minimum level of sound insulations.

Its also fair to say, that a double brick (if your lucky because not all terraces had double brick!) with solid plaster walls will have no better sound deadeneing then a single skin light weight block and dob and dab twin plaster board wall.

I also ahve to say, having carried out much building and maintenance work on older houses (19th centry, 30's etc etc), I would not have a house older than 20 years old because this belief that they were better built is a myth (note: I consider 60's build to be about he worst!).

ive done new build flats in london, there usually double skinned with noise reduction boards as well as cavity insulation and fire boards. and these boards arnt easy to hump about as there a bit heavier than normal but they do work to a certain degree. dont buy next to a nightclub  ;D
