I had to have an endoscopy (gastroscopy, actually) earlier this year - it didn't work - they couldn't get the thing down my throat.  It seems that the local anaesthetic they use to suppress the gag reflex didn't work on me.  If they'd asked, I could have told them that - the dentist always has trouble as Novocaine doesn't seem to have much effect on me.  If you've got someone who can drive you back from the hospital, opt for the "sedation" and doze your way through the entire exercise.

Anyway, good luck with it, and I sincerely hope you get the all-clear.

Yep ............I had a endoscopy ............without sedation........they told me that it was better for them if I was completely alert.

It was a deeply unpleasant experience. :'( :'(......if possible always have sedation.....even if they tell you that you are being a "girly" :y :y :y

Spondylosis is arthritis basically, I have it in my lumbar spine. So far co-codamol are the only painkillers I find useful !
