Pleasant surprise @ work.
« on: 24 December 2008, 23:20:02 »

As many of you know i drive a truck for a small family owned company. No pay rise for 4 yrs, he's gone from a new Mitsubishi L200 animal to an old Disco so i know he's struggling. Despite quiet periods we've always been paid but the loyalty has been a tad strained at times. We used to get the choice of a turkey, bottle or case of beer for chrimbo but not for the last two years. Today i went into the office before leaving & was given an Xmas card. I opened it to find 5 crumpled tenners. This cost him nearly a grand overall.
The £50 was welcome obviously but more so the fact that we're on the up again. I was thanked for sticking with it through the bad times & apologized for us not getting the promised pay rise this year. He's not a man to mess with but takes all my cars for MOT while i'm at work, lends his car trailor etc.
Not a bad Gaffer, & i like working there. Might even get a pay rise next year!! :-?

I also work for a very small company..

I was the 3rd driver to start but the only one left.

We share the workload..It was my turn to do Madrid last week and it works perfect.

I like working for the company, in fact, its probably the best i have worked for.

For xmas we had a bottle of nice wine and the Mrs had a bunch of nice flowers..A nice gesture but the most important thing is, I still have a job..

Appreciation that the gaffer is still keeping us going.
