A medicals a good idea if it's implemented properly.
For what it's worth evrey driver should take a re-test every 10 years, not a proper first time test, because hey we'd all fail that, but a basic one. I saw a guy in the local car park the other day & the way he drove, he'd never pass.
This would cut the accidents down by alot, but i guess they wouldn't make enough money outa it >:( >:( >:( COKS, all of them.

i have to say that i agree, i dont think they should make it easier but more like be less strict eg... who uses push pull steering for example all the time? as soon as you pass your test if your not a moron you use common sense like when you dont NEED to indicate because there's nobody to indicate to or like instead of the 3. turn just pull into a driveway to help get round alot easier or go to a roundabout for example if its there

I think the good thing about these proposals, more than testing the individuals skills and ability of driving a motor vehicle, is that it is about their health being reviewed.

I often wonder how many drivers have poor eye sight (I know of two!) or suffer from unknown medical conditions that could cause a fatal accident, but still go on driving regardless without check up? :-? :-?

This new system would weed out those technically dangerous drivers. 8-) 8-)

Speak for yourself!  ;)  ;D  ;D  :y  :y  :y
The closest to a restest I've done recently was a speed awareness course .....  :-X You'd to drive without crossing arms on the wheel, keep to speed limits etc etc. Not a driving test as we know but most of the major things you'd need to comply with when on a test.
I had my wrists slapped for driving an auto with 2 feet!!  :-?  :y

i disagree, a full on first time test......theory and all

why do anything less? to do so would seem pointlees and devalue to purpose of improving driving standard....

It's no different to going to night school 10 years after doing your GCSE's and retaking them, but an easier test this time, seems a waste of time

Currently as a driver it is MY responsibility to keep myself up to date on the changes in driving law, like hell do it, and i would imagine there are many like me, so the full on malarkey will ensure i have

I think a lot of people would be surprised how hard the test can be...

I for one would have to try hard if I had to meet the standards (and I took my test 3 years ago).

Its the silly little things like driving with only one hand on the wheel, or using palm of your hand on the wheel when turning round etc.

Plus how would you do a retest? I passed in a manual, and now drive an auto, so would that mean that if I did a retest in my own car I could only drive autos... Think it would open up a big can of worms tbh!
Just a boy.I took mine 44yrs ago,how would it be for us old fogies ::) ::) ::) ::)We had to do hand signals as well ;)

My driving instructor made me do them.... God I felt like a right prat! Got so many strange looks  :-[ :-X

Really.. Is there any need???? If my indicators dont work, and its snowing (which it was on the day he made me do it), im hardly going to open the windows and wave my arms about like im having some sort of fit am i?  :P
