Little advice needed for a friend and his Chrysler

Hello all

A friend of mine has developed a rather nasty crunching/grinding noise on his 3.3 voyager.  Been to the garage today, mechanic reckons air con pump oppsed.  Anybody know of a fix which can be used to by-pass pump altogether, possibly shorter serpentine belt.  If so any ideas where to get the parts :question.

Practically he needs a big bus for family needs.   And perhaps the amount of trouble my omega has been recently has put him off. :P

Sorry to hear that both you and your mate are having problems with your cars.

I think on the whole that Omegas are EXTREMELY reliable cars and wish you both the best for sorting them out.

My omega is running sweet now, but has been very temperamental of late, fingers crossed :y.

sound like aircon pumps clutch failed cos the pulley turns but pump doesn't when aircon is off

makes noise all the time - chrysler quoted £600 + vat for pump.  he's not fussed about air con, just wondered if anyone has a way to bypass pump altogether just to get running.  he's not happy driving around wih a potential catastrophic failure of belt, thus water pump stops and cooks engine.

In terms of effort to find out how to do it and then to source a smaller belt it would probably be easier to bite the bullet and replace the air con pump with a 2nd hander, especially as the £100 one has a guarantee
