For the record, those with OOF mail, thats not UK hosted, and thus not covered by this gay idea.

I know one of our mail platforms, that deals with a relatively small number of companies will need approx 1Tb to keep 12months worth of mail logs (and remember, mail logs are pretty useless as a counter terrorism measure).  You may think 1Tb isn't that much, but remember it must be fault tolerant, fast, a backup infrastructure put in place, and a offsite retension policy put in place.

All in all, expect it to cost the ISP somewhere in the region of £20k per year per Tb of storage...  ...and poor old us will have to cop the cost.
