Rug Doctor (homebase), if that fails, i say look into the history of the property and have an exorcism carried out

they can get it done. and just wondering what would an exorcism acheive?

strange goings on from underneath the floor could be that or a spiritual nature? ;D

Agreed, it is the floating floor that does it..........spooooooky... :D

well they have been and gone!

after trying to acuse me that its my fault cos i clean the carpet too often  >:( >:( >:( they have reluctantly agreed to replace the carpet.

only because if they rip the carpet up they still have to pay for the old carpet to be refitted so they might aswell replace it.

as well as the lounge floor they are trying to say its nothing serious and the patio doors might need refitting cos they could be causing the draft? my butt  to be honest they havent a clue what they are talking about!!!!!! ;D ;D

what gets me though is what happens now.......

she orders the new carpet today! i get a letter
they come round to fit it. but at no point has she said that a builder will be round the same day as the fitters to inspect the floor which is the whole reason for ripping up the carpet! :-/ :-/ :-/
has to be done within 28 days according to their rules/policy.

well at least i get a new carpet. its now just the hastle of emptying the room and moving it oh and to add i have a 3ft fish tank that is going to have to be empted to move it!

What I would do ---- if they won't have someone to inspect the floor when the carpet is up -- is have a good poke myself -- if anything looks suspect phone her and tell her to get round there before you allow the new carpet to be laid.  After all -- it's their budget you are saving --- if there is a problem with the floor, it will only happen again!

Hopefully it will be something as simple as the previous owners spilt something on the carpet which soaked into the underlay (if not foam backed -- they must replace that too !!!! ). They would have got it out of the top layer but it is still leeching through from underneath!!!

a floating floor is a wood floor laid on25 or50 mill of polystyrene or similar insulation, if its a damp patch it could be coming from anywhere.

Hi Marie,

has anybody else looked at this for you apart from defence housing??

I've had experience with them before myself (been a crab for nearly 30 years now) and I haven't a good word for them!!

Rad pipes I reckon, failing that where does the water mains come in??

Sounds like you in the newer houses in Ilch ??

I also know some of the RAF guys who live on or near the patch, might be able to get some info!! :y :y

Offer of help if you need it :y

Make sure you have your camera handy and fully charged up, then when the carpet gets lifted and you see something iffy then take plenty of pics of it to show them.

'fraid MOD housing was built to a budget and often sub-standard. Even if OK on construction the maintenance over the years will have been non-existent!
