Have you ever?????
« on: 16 January 2009, 06:40:05 »

Checked on some of the consumer forum websites just to see what type of a company you work for??? I`ve been ROFL at some of the complaints my car park/security company i work for have got over PCN`S that get issued...Now me i dont get to issue very many as i`m permanant nights and the shops shut at 8pm so we tend not to bother unless somebody takes the mickey and tries to park upover the 5 hour time limit i.e. overnight....Even then i just mostly issue a warning notice rather than a PCN...I  read some of the reasons put on the PCN..Vehicle parked in parent and toddler bay..no sign of toys in car...(huh???) or my personal favourite vehicle parked in disabled bay the wrong way(what on its roof???) I mean come on does all common sense go outa the window or do they just do it to see who can put the most stupidest reason down if i did that here my supervisor would bounce my arse down the street to the dole office... :o ;D

There's a group of shops in Farnborough where they ticket people for leaving the site. I.E. if you need to go to a shop over the road in addition, you are expected to get into your car and drive across the road to their car park.  >:(

Similar to the Vx dealer in Reading (car parking non existent).  Over the road there is a big diy type shop - only its trade only (always deserted - will be out of business soon - actually wouldn't let be buy stuff there..).  They employ someone to police the empty car park and stop non trade parking there - so if you don't have a dirty white van, you'll likely get a ticket.   Business prevention if you ask me...

You think thats bad when the wife was heavily pregnant with the twins she started bleeding heavy...long story short rushed into local hospital ive followed in the car, parked in car park and hot footed it into delivery suite (was 50/50 if all 3 survived).

Several hours later finally able too relax a little as they stopped her bleeding and admitted her too normal ward....go to car too find some doddery old git writing me a ticket.

Explained id parked up early hours of morning and said about wife ect...""not my problem"" he said as he carried on with ticket.

Wasn't until it was clear he was going too loose his teeth he suddenly scurried off and no ticket....beside my self with worry and he has too be a bloody jobs worth. >:(

I bet in hindsight you wish you'd just phoned an ambulance. So much for trying to do the right thing and lighten their load.

Being ill is an open invitation for everyone to fleece you in this country. "Free at the point of use" .. Unless you actually need to get to the hospital, be visited in there, eat something edible while you're there or communicate with the outside world.

Do any of the above and you'll  pay through the nose. >:(

Actually, our hospital seem to be quite sensible about emergencies... Mrs LD suffers severe food allergies and has to carry adrenalin just in case, it's very frightening for both of us TBH!! :o :o

Anyway, living "out of the way a little" as we do we get the same response every time we have to call an ambulance... "Can you drive sir?" To be fair, every minute counts and it would take at least 10 minutes to get an ambulance to us! :o :o

Anyway, last time we had to go I did the 14 miles to the hospital in 16 minutes (never any police about when a chase car would be helpful :o :o :D :D :D) and gotto the hospital to find I'd left my wallet at home. Told the girl at reception who just said "Don't worry about parking... If you get a ticket we'll have it revoked as this is a genuine life or death emergency" :y :y :y

Nice to hear some common sense at a hospital :y :y :y

Sorry should have said that i did indeed phone 999...fast response paramedic arrived same time as myself (think i was averaging something like 1 mile a minute over 10 miles ish....thats averaging  :o)...ambulance couple of mins after the fast response medic.

I only followed in the car as they wanted her in hospital asap and couldn't wait for change of clothes ect (she had blood vessels resting in between the placenta and cervix (think thats it) so basically if the blood vessels had burst she would have simply bleed too death which obviously isnt ideal. :(

I know the car park attendants have a job too do and i respect that, however a little common sense goes a long way and sadly the turnip i encountered had none what so ever. ::)

As Albitz said are these tickets from private co's legally binding? I'd question that one. When my son was born, i was sent home, told his Mum (Sandy) had been given stuff to help her sleep & stop the contractions. Grudgingly i drove home from Shoreham to Worthing, collapsed on the bed only to be woken up an hour later, Sandy had awoke to broken waters, phoned me & went to the loo. By the time she got back to the delivery room i was there, dramatic forcep delivery, she nearly broke my hand & i've never heard a girl make noises like that, but 08.50hrs a baby boy. Everyone was great, made us buttered toast & tea.
Point is there was a white 1972 Mk3 Cortina slid across two parking bays with the door open & keys in the ignition next morning, no thieves or tickets.
    Wish i was 22 again!!! :D 8-)

debatable as to wether tickets are enforceable but the company i work is run by a barrister so everything we do car park wise is legal but its also down to common sense...But we also own a baliff company that seeks out non payments..... :-/

Balif's require a Court Order to claim money back, so that suggests that Private carpark monitoring is legal :-/  I am interested cos I am about to push the limits at work, the Landlord has someone going round giving parking tickets, used to be clamping but that has stopped.
