Anybody on here a Paramedic or EMT? *Part 2*
« on: 01 March 2009, 12:05:55 »

Thanks again to everyone who wished me luck for yesterday.  Turned into a long day in the end...

For anyone who might be vaguely interested the tests were as follows:
Infection Control - One word answers
Map Reading - One word answers  (I think a six year old could've got full marks on this bit Gaffers!   :y )
Highway Code - Multi-choice
Numeracy - Multi-choice
Verbal comprehension - Multi-choice

I'm glad to say I passed them all and also had an interview at half four yesterday, which also went well.  Should hear this week if I'm through to the next round...    :)

More news     :) :) :)

Been offer a place starting the middle of April    :) :) 8-) 8-) :) :)

Just got to do a medical and a driving assessment, both of which there shouldn't be a problem, but I'll need to hand in my notice with this job before I do them.  Which adds a fairly hefty bit of pressure!!

As a current reponder in kent, no flashy lights are to be used at all unless they have been approved by your ROM. (dont stop some from using them i know)

good luck with the driving assesment, from what i have been told its ok as long as you drive as you would normally, dont worry too much about driving like your trying to pass your test etc.
p.s atos medical are taking forever at the moment, so you might have a little longer wait than you would like.

good luck, hopefully i might bump in to you some time.

Whats a 'first Responder' I assume some emergency thing.  We only have ambulance / Paramedic units.  I know I have seen some GP Practices with an emergency car with green lights, not up here though :question

They're basically supposed to get to to calls where people aren't breathing before the ambulance so they can start CPR and use the AED.  Being a member of St. John myself, it's something I wanted to do, but now I'll be doing it full time   :)

I've been given an appointment on the 18th March, and as I understand it I'll be able to start even if they've not had my references back.  But if something negative comes back I'll get kicked out.  I'm a good boy though, so it should all be fine    :y
